Ruidoso Downs Race Track is one of the premier quarter horse racing tracks in the nation. The track hosts thoroughbred races, too, but the notable All American Futurity is the richest race in quarter horse racing in the world, with a purse that eclipses $30 million. With new ownership coming after the 2017 season, big things are on the horizon, but one thing is for certain: Ruidoso Downs is and will continue to be the epicenter of quarter horse racing in the United States. The racing season begins Memorial Day weekend and runs through Labor Day weekend. Races are run Friday through Monday and post time is usually at 1:00 pm.
